How to Backup Your WordPress Website

How to Backup Your WordPress Website

Hi guys I’m Pratyush from pcheaven.in today, we’re getting to see how you’ll take a backup of your website. First, let’s see.

What is the backup?

Backup simply means saving a duplicate of your website on a selected date then keeping it safe after you are taking a backup,

let’s say you keep making changes to your site, and at some point your site suddenly stops working What does one do in this situation? How does one recover your site?

If you’ve a backup you simply got to restore that backup and your site are getting to be working again

Now after you restore the backup your site will look exactly as it was when taking the backup.

So we highly recommend that you simply always take a backup of your site so as that you simply never lose your work.

This is how backup works. let’s start First let’s examine how our site seems like , so this is the site that I’ve built on WordPress Now.

if you would like to backup the site you would like to do three things the primary thing is to install the backup plug-in on your site.

Install the Backup Plug-in

To install the plug-in. Let’s move to our dashboard then click plugins and click on add new Now look for a plug-in called updraft and you will get this plugin.

Now, this can be the plug-in that we’re getting to use for backup, Install the plugin.

Let’s click install And activate and you will see here that the plug-in has been installed.

Once the plug-in is installed we will now take the backup so to take a backup click settings then click backup now.

Now confirm all of those options are selected and click on Backup Now. That’s it we’ve now taken a backup.

if we attend the existing Backup tab you’ll see the backup which we just took. So this is often how you’ll take a backup of your website.

How does one use Backup to restore your website?

Now, there are two situations where you would possibly got to use your backup Let’s take the primary situation for instance by mistake you modify something on your site and you would like to travel back.

Situation 1.

You can use your backup to travel back to a previous time So let’s try it out.

I’m getting to enter pages And for instance I delete the homepage Now if i’m going to the site and click on refresh I can see that homepage is gone.

Now if you would like to restore the homepage, all you’ve got to try and do is head to updraft click restore and choose the backup, which you would like to restore.

Now choose all the choices there and click on restore to revive your site.

Now if we attend your site and click on refresh you’ll see that you simply have gotten your home page again, this is often how you’ll use the backup to revive your site.

Now you can’t always remember to require a backup whenever So for instance you’re taking a backup today and after fortnight of performing on a site your website crashes.

You will lose all of the changes which were made during those fortnight So to avoid this we will set up a schedule which will take a backup of a site at regular intervals.

By doing this our site’s content will always be protected without having to backup manually.

Situation 2.

Where we see the way to found out an automatic backup So to line up automatic backup, let’s click settings under updraft, then let’s attend the Settings tab.

Here we’d wish to choose how often do i want to need the backup So i prefer to recommend you decide on weekly in both of these places Then set retain Scheduled backups choice to four and 4 .

Now, this setting will take one backup each week and it will keep that backup for four weeks So this suggests you’ll always have the backup for the last four weeks.

Next, we’d like to choose where we would like to store our backups therefore the app draft gives you different places where you’ll store your backup.

I’m going to choose Google Drive as my storage then scroll down and click on on Save As soon as you click save updraft will ask you to link your Google account so as that it can store the backups there.

So to link it, let’s click “follow this link” and it will ask you to sign into your Google account, so choose an account during which you would like to store the backup.

Now Google will invite your confirmation. So let’s click allow And it’ll take you to the updraft page so now let’s click complete setup to end the linking.

And now Google Drive account are getting to be linked to updraft Means all of your backups are getting to be safely saved to your Google Drive therefore the automated backup setup is now complete

And you’ll see that the primary backup are going to be taken on this date So if we attend this page here Over time we’ll get more and more backups which are the backups for the last four weeks.

Now our site are going to be protected automatically and it’s safe from crashes Now after we have these backups what if our site crashes? and once we attempt to reach the admin area What if we aren’t able to access it?
